The hole of this funnel is fine for pouring into jars or for when I make pickles (hot pouring), but the collar doesn't extend widely enough. The old aluminum one I have has a much wider collar, which is a safety feature when I'm spooning hot pickle slices into my jars. However, it is well-made with no sharp edges or any other safety concerns.
